FAIZABAD: The special operations group of Faizabad police, on Monday, arrested a gangster accused of seven murders and eleven robberies. The gangster was carrying a cash reward of Rs 15,000 on him and wanted by three police ranges of eastern Uttar Pradesh. The gangster was identified as Ranga.
The police recovered a bike and a factory made .315 calibre pistol from his possession.

The police also recovered some ornaments of gold and silver. A special team of SOG was deputed on the task of breaking this gang. "We finally succeeded on Monday morning when on some tip off from local informers the team nabbed Ranga after a brief encounter, said the SSP.
On Monday, the SOG team carried out a special operation and arrested Ranga. He was operating in the area with different names and gangs. Ranga was involved in robbery, extortion and murders.
The modus operandi of the members of his gangs was that before loot they first shoot the victim from point blank range and take out all cash, jewelleries and other valuables from the body. The gangs usually operated near jeweller's establishments and banks. According to the police the gang members had killed seven persons while robbing them.
Talking to TOI, Faizabad senior superintendent of police RK Chaturvedi, said, "This gang was operating in Faizabad and adjoining districts of Ambedkarnagar, Gonda, Basti and Sultanpur and in barely five months this gang committed about a dozen incidents of robbery. They shot ten persons from point blank range inout of which seven died on spot."
